Renting in Italy?

Pros and Cons to Renting in Italy

Whether you’re considering renting over buying in Italy, each choice comes with its own set of benefits. Renting is more flexible, has less commitment especially if you are not sure where you want to establish your roots.  With lower initial costs and major maintenance responsibilities typically falling on the owner, renting allows you to establish a home with a lot less money.

On the other hand, renting can be difficult for foreigners who do not have regular Italian based jobs, do not speak the language or know the details of what a legal rental lease and their obligations are.  In every case, a new arrival will need help to search and negotiate a rental for them in Italy.  This could be a friend, local or an agency, but plan on getting help to make sure that you are well protected.
